JAPN 400: Adv Interpersonal Com
Description
This course aims to develop advanced proficiency in interpersonal communication through the formulation of research questions and conducting research utilizing appropriate technologies. Taught in Japanese.
Over the course of this class we began working on our capstone project by developing research questions. As a class, we collaborated to come up with meaningful and worthwhile capstone topics for one another, working together to help each other think up ideas when necessary. We also covered how we were to conduct our research, how it is to be analyzed, and what we should expect during the capstone course itself. By the end of the course we had solidified out topics, had developed research questions to investigate the topics, and we individually began making survey questions which we would later turn into our online capstone surveys. This class gave me insight into how surveys function and what effort is required to make a well-functioning survey.
By the end of this course we were all ready to transfer our written surveys to the online version and send them out to our respondents. The topic I chose required a decent amount of background research which turned out to be more interesting that I had previously thought it was going to be. I successfully had my survey approved by my advisor and later implemented it in an online google document where it would be taken by over eighty respondents. Without this course, I would have been entirely in the dark about how to make a research survey so I am glad that this course taught me the skills necessary to completing my capstone survey.
